Supercritical fluid chromatography methods for lignin applications
Selectivity and efficiency in ultrahigh performance supercritical fluid chromatography (UHPSFC) are explored for analysis of lignin monomers, dimers and oligomers. A variety of polar stationary phases are investigated along with mobile phase composition (carbon dioxide, methanol and additives) and pressure, temperature and flow rate. Two-dimensional UHPSFC is also investigated as a separation technique for lignin applications.
High-resolution mass spectrometry
High-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS) such as QTOF/MS and Orbitrap/MS are used in combination with ultrahigh performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC) and ultrahigh performance supercritical fluid chromatography (UHPSFC) to elucidate lignin monomer, dimer and oligomer chemical structures in complex lignin samples.
