Isabela Bonfim obtained her Bachelor’s in Biochemistry (2017) from the State University of Maringá and her Ph.D. degree (2022) from the University of Campinas (UNICAMP) in Molecular and Morphofunctional Biology. Her Ph.D. research was developed at the National Biorenewables Laboratory (LNBR/CNPEM) and focused on the metabolism of plant polysaccharides by phytopathogenic bacteria using biochemical and structural approaches. She is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher in Applied Microbiology in the group of Prof. Magnus Carlquist at Lund University, exploring new routes for lignin valorization aiming at the production of biobased compounds. Her research interests include metabolic engineering, omics (mainly transcriptomics and metabolomics) and structural biology.
