Karin Edler

Prof Karen Edler moved to Lund in 2022. She uses scattering techniques to study hierarchically structured materials to determine how nano and microscale structures influence macroscopic properties in colloidal suspensions, porous materials and amphiphile solutions. Her work ranges from studies of biopolymer gels, to lipid nanoparticles, catalytic nanoparticles and mesoporous materials, and self-assembly in deep eutectic solvents. She is currently working with Prof Lotta Turner on using CO2 fluidised deep eutectic solvents to extract lignin and to determine how this extraction process modifies the lignin structure and so its ability to be processed into microparticles or films.
